A Moving Checklist for OBGYN Practices

About four weeks before moving, you will want to contact medical and business suppliers and services; advisors, such as attorneys and bankers; outside services, such as maintenance and other related contractors; and the post office for change of address for all physicians.
Notify Patients and Staff
Be aware that if moving your OBGYN practice will end current patient/provider relationships, you could be violating laws about “patient abandonment”. Be sure to allow plenty of time to notify patients (at least 12 weeks), and consider referring them to other equally-qualified physicians. You will also want to let the staff know about the move and make sure that their exit paperwork is in order.
